ABOUT ME

I first came to art in a formal sense in the 2nd year of my languages degree at Cambridge, when I took a paper called texts and contexts that introduced me to early Renaissance Italian art. I was hooked and went on to write an art and poetry-based thesis in the 3rd year. I sat a range of European art papers in my finals, graduating with a First in 2002.

After Cambridge I studied for a Masters in Italian Renaissance art at the Courtauld Institute in London, which led to a job at Christie’s, in Old Master Pictures. While I liked the fast pace of the auction world, it didn’t offer the kind of meaningful contact with art I’d hoped. That was provided by Art History Abroad, a company that specializes in cultural trips throughout Europe. Over the three years that I worked for them as a tutor and guide, I got to know Italy and had the chance to engage with the country’s art on a daily basis.

When I eventually wanted something based more permanently in London, I decided on schools and got jobs teaching art history A Level at Westminster and Latymer Upper. Since 2002 I have been published on a regular basis in a number of national magazines with arts and culture and travel features.

I moved to Washington, DC at the end of 2009 and am looking forward to working at either a museum or school in the city.
