I added aspects of my room to the art work. So things like golf clubs, a guitar, trophies, favorite books, video games, posters, etc... Anything that described me at the time. It was difficult, but very fun at the same time.

Hello Ben. What a fantastic art memory to have jogged! I do think that sort of visual experience can leave a deep imprint. How did your version of the painting turn out?

As I was looking through the archives of blogs you have completed recently, this painting immediately caught my eye. My first thought was that this piece of work looks like a comic-book, cartoon version of a very popular painting that I have seen many times throughout my life. I am fairly knew to the world of art history, so the name of the painting and artist had escaped me. As I look back to my elementary school years, I keenly remember being tasked with a similar type of project myself. Just as Roy Lichtenstein transformed van Gogh's painting from 19th c. to a modern 21st c. bedroom, I was asked to take van Gogh's painting and transform it into something similar to my bedroom. It was easily one of the highlights of my elementary school art class. Thanks for the great read and the memories that you restored in my brain!
